It appears that Kevin has a bit of a pattern in his actions: first, he rushes back to his hometown to help his dad cope with the loss of his mom, even though they haven’t really talked in years. Turns out, his dad is doing just fine on his own, despite Kevin’s doubts about the timing. Now, he’s getting involved with Sarah Tercel, thinking she needs to be rescued from her unhappy marriage and dull husband. Some might see this as a classic white knight syndrome, but Kevin is just a caring guy who enjoys helping others. Or maybe he’s just trying to justify his actions to himself and others, not wanting to admit he might have some selfish motives. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but why the act? Kevin isn’t quite sure himself, but he can’t seem to help it…
